It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the passing of two much loved members of Alberts fourth generation: Lasite Mirdza (Gaish) Albert and Robert Otto Albert
Gaish Albert (06.07.1945 – 06.02.2024)
Gaish Albert was married to Anthony (Tony) Albert (1939-2000) and mother to children Katherine and Ingrid. Later married to Robert Kidd (2002), Gaish was of Latvian heritage and moved as a refugee to Australia in 1949 with her family. She studied teaching and became a popular secondary school teacher in maths, English and science in schools across Queensland and Sydney.
Gaish was a true life force, with a passion for life, a love for creativity and the arts, and most importantly a love for family. The Albert family and all those who were lucky enough to know Gaish have felt a deep loss since her passing. Her vibrancy, enthusiasm for life and infectious energy lifted all those who came into her orbit. She will be deeply missed, and forever loved.
Robert Albert (14.12.1934 – 07.02.2024)
Robert Albert, Alberts’ longstanding chairman and a former partner with Sydney law firm Allen Allen & Hemsley, joined the family business in 1984 at the same time as his lawyer brother Tony. Along with their brother Ted (1936–1990), a music producer and father Sir Alexis Albert (1904-1996) the four Alberts enjoyed many happy years working in the business together.
Outside work, Robert was a keen sailor, a generous but quiet philanthropist to various organisations and individuals in the arts, education and maritime history, among others; and a dedicated wife to Libby (married 1968) and their three children Kirsty, David and Jane. Robert was a reliable and comforting presence in the office at Alberts. His mischievous sense of humour and deep love for his family, which extended to all those who worked in the family business, will be greatly missed.
