More than 3,500 entries from 52 countries were received for the 2024 Vanda & Young Global Song Comp, and now the Top 50 Finalists have been selected!
This year’s shortlist highlights an impressive range of songwriting talent, from emerging voices to established artists (we spot some recognisable Aussie acts in the mix, including Boy & Bear and Boo Seeka, San Cisco, and Royel Otis!), spanning diverse genres and creative styles.
Alberts continues its long-standing support of the competition, in collaboration with APRA AMCOS and Sony Music Publishing, to champion exceptional songwriting talent worldwide. With a $50,000 first prize and a total prize pool of $80,000 distributed across 15 standout songs, the Global Song Comp provides a significant platform for recognition, resources and industry exposure, helping songwriters elevate their music careers. Entry fees also contribute directly to Noro Music Therapy, with more than $2 million raised since the competition began in 2009.
Judged anonymously by an international panel of esteemed musicians including local artists Aloe Blacc, Guy Sebastian, and Troy Cassar-Daley, and industry professionals such as Marietta Ouzas (A&R, Sony Music and Manager, Tones And I), the finalists were chosen for their songwriting, originality, emotional depth, and technical skill. The competition accepts all songs, of any style, from anywhere in the world.
With previous esteemed winners including Amy Shark, King Stingray, Baker Boy, Budjerah, Gang of Youths, Genesis Owusu, Mallrat, and Thelma Plum, the 2024 winner—set to be the next star in the making—will be revealed March 10!
